Meet Dr. Laide Nasir,the First African to be Conferred a Doctor of Philosophy in Psycho-Drama.

Dr. Laide Nasir, the first African to be conferred a Doctor of Philosophy in Psycho-Drama/Drama Therapy, Theatre Arts is a versatile practitioner of arts- an improvisational playwright,     an experiemental director, a detailed administrator and experienced production coordinator.
The Oyo State born scholar has taught as a theatre lecturer at Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo and Olabisi Onabanjo University,Ogun state. 

He is currently the Head of Department of the department of Theatre and Media Studies, Federal University, Oye,Ekiti state.His major areas of specialization are  Applied theatre,Theatre technology(Sets and Lights) and Theatre For development.

Over the years, he has in collaboration with his students carried out successful practical experiments on the variants of Theatre For development such as Community theatre , Playback theatre and Psycho-Drama among others.Some of his experiments were facilitated at the Neuro-psychiatric hospital, Abeokuta; General Hospital, Ijebu Ode; and several rural communities.

To Dr. Nasir, “Drama is not only relevant to aid healing processes, it could also be advanced to assure healing”, depending on the level of ailment and the methods deployed to facilitate healing.

Dr. Nasir Taofiq Laide has written over 60 articles which have been published locally and internationally.

Today, he becomes formally conferred by the Senate at the prestigious University of Ibadan as a Doctor of Philosophy in Theatre Arts.
